Details required please for an Astra estate 1992 rear window washer - does this have a seperate pump/motor/ reservoir system? and if so where is it located?
All comments appreciated.

Pretty sure it uses the same reservoir as the front ones. It *might* have a separate pump, or use the same one as the front windscreen, but the polarity to the motor is reversed when you want to squirt the rear screen. Should be easy enough to see by looking at the reservoir as to whether or not more than one pump is fitted.
I take it there are no problems with the front squirters?

Thanks DD
I,ve just replaced the pump/motor on the "front" reservoir, this has two opposed output pipes.
The front washers work fine.
How ingenius! reverse the drive volts polarity to drive rear window. Rear washer has never worked.
I can check this with a meter, more later.
The fault is a probable blockage in the long run of tubing from the bulkhead mounted reservoir to the rear tailgate window.

There may be a non-return valve in the pipe near the tailgate. If it works like the one on my Volvo, it can either fail open, so that it takes ages for the water to get to the far end, or shut, causing a blockage. Trying to unblock it by poking about can simply change it from state 2 to state 1.

wbd,
I assume you can still hear the motor pump when selecting the rear squirter?
If so, then try swapping the two pipes over and see if what was the front output now squirts the rear, and vice versa.
If not, then it *could* well be a dodgy wiper stalk. Also check to see if there is a separate fuse for the rear wash.
