Seat belt assist??? - dodo
Simple problem -is there a solution. A friend's mother is having trouble reaching back to grab her seatbelt on her 3 door new shape focus. She drives with the seat fairly forward and at 70+ she really needs to find a way to bring the belt forward. I remeber seeing this on some coupes or convertibles - I just wonder if it can be retro fitted -and sourced for her Focus. All help/suggestions appreciated - and Happy New Year!

Simple solution, not necessarily the best. But it works for some of my older customers.

Clip a simple clothes peg onto the seat belt behind the buckle and it stops it fully retracting thus allowing easy acces to seat belt at side.

Stick a decent magnet on the side of the seat at shoulder height and then park the buckle on it ?

If it has side curtain airbags, be wary of solutions which involve rigging up hard objects which would be smashed into the side of one's head by the force of the explosion.
Always think of airbags when mounting accessories.

New shape Focus has curtain & seat mounted side airbags as standard!

So there's an airbag firing out of the side of the seat & also another firing downwards from the headlining.

Dont put anything in the way of the airbag deployment zones, airbags saves lives, objects mounted in the deployment zone will kill if they strike someone with the force of the airbag pushing it!

Attached a length of thin ribbon to the buckle and when she kets in she can pass her right hand through the loof of the ribbon. Now she is sat she can pull on the loop and the buckle will come to her. Problem solved. Regards Peter

The simplest solution is to pull some slack with you as your getting into the car, possibly hooking it round the side bolster of the seat while you getting comfortable - no sense making it complicated.

With my mums Hyundai Coupe, which suffers the same issue, you simply pull some slack out, put you right arm through the loop and sit in the seat. That way there is no need to reach back.
