Fog lights. There, that should be enough to start a thread! ;-)

On the Focus, you pull off the fog light surround, and then un-do two screws to remove the unit, replace bulb and refit together.
Oh this should be in Technical btw :)

...bonus points for anyone who can post something new and different and previously unsaid on this topic... :-)

|
Why post now??Most people have had them on all summer!!

What other crime is there where people drive around just shouting to the police "look, I have my foglights on and shouldn't have, stop me and fine me"
"I was telephoning my lawyer as I drove at 70mph along the motorway, honest, it was only a quick call"
I always thought criminals tried to hide their crimes as they were committing them?
I feel harsh today....

Bonus points for something new about fog lights?
Fog lights weren't required until the 1930s, as far as I can tell from a quick Google. And I think my mother has had them on ever since.

It's just a shame that the police don't.

drive my primera and find you have turned them on by accident front and rear
and no you cant see the idiot light on the dash because the steering wheel covers it
keep meaning to superglue it off before i get 3 points

Any car I have previously owned, where I know they get turned off when you turn the lights off (306/Pug, Toledo/VAG) get the full beam and fogs treatment.

OM - is this a characteristic of Primeras? - a colleague arrived in his Primera last night unaware that his fogs were on.
Is it just recent Primeras? - my son has just bought a 2000W. Thanks

Is that what she told or do you know that from personal experience? ;-)

I have on occasion driven behind my mother and I can tell you it's a stressful experience for both of us. I particularly enjoy her ingenious triple action windscreen wipers, that function as rain clearing devices (visible or otherwise), turn indicators, and apparently items with which to express annoyance towards oncoming hoodlums travelling at anything over 16 miles an hour.
|
|
Uh oh. If I need to sound the horn at someone, it usually ends up with the windscreen wipers going and the indicators on as I grab every control in sight and pummel the steering wheel.
|
Yes indeed. Nothing more unsatisfying than giving them a damn good squirt.
As it were.

Having just spent a long weekend in bad weather in Eire I can confirm that fog lights are a part of most car's "Total Lighting Solution" ie on with the headlights pn most cars after dark or in rain. May be they don't have the 100 yard visibility rule there?

I haven't got the foggiest idea of anything new or different....

Are they necessary on modern cars with HID headlights and huge rear lamps with multiple bulbs in ?

AFAIK they are only beneficial in bad fog - but a lot of folks don't agree, so they switch them on as soon as it gets dark.
|
I saw someone done for it the other day.
Copper turned round and followed him and issued a notice, which blokey didn't pay. Ended up in court.
I was v surprised.

Fog lights are the future. What better reason to give someone a tug and breath test them eh ?
