Hi Guys. My son's Vauxhall Corsa's steering is stiff to turn in one direction. A friend mentioned it might be the electric power steering is failing? Is there any way to check this unit or take it apart, or any other suggestions to fix this. Many thanks Ian

Identify the fuse for the electric power steering, remove it, and re-check. If the steering is the same then the electric p/s isn't working. If the steering is heavier then the electric p/s was working.

Depends on the year but the newer Corsa ( not the brand new one just out ) have a yellow EPS light on the dash that tells you when the electric powersteering is having a sulk.

I don't know whether it still applies, but in the past it was possible to tighten/loosen the steering by merely adjusing the amount of axial free play on the steering column.

Assume this is a 2000 to 2006 Corsa? From what I've read elsewhere - stiff to turn in one direction is a classic sign that the electric power steering is on the way out. Some were replaced under warranty.
