Hi
My diesel 106 glowplug light goes out after about 3-4 seconds on recent cold mornings so I have tried switching the ignition off and on 3 or 4 times to help starting. When the engine is started when warm, however, the light stays on much longer?
Presumably the timer has had it and I need a new one?
Thanks

have you tested the timer or the relays??

No - how do you test the timer or relays?
Don't think my Haynes covers this but i'll have a look later.
Thanks

see if you get 12v to the plug for about 4 secs some timers shut off then come on again and repeat about 4 times while the engine is running, however yours may be different not sure with peugeot. i use a 12v bulb as a test light if it's bright all ok.

Hi
Tested with a bulb. Glowplugs have power to them when engine is warm for about 15 secs, then dashboard light goes out but power to plugs continues for about 15 more secs.
First thing in morning power for about 4 secs, then dash light goes out and power continues for 15 secs again.
Have taken timer off and cleaned connections but surely glowplugs should heat longer when cold than when hot - not the other way round?
Thanks

im not sure if it takes a feed from the water temp sensor ie: when cold stays on longer when warm shorter but it won't stay on ages just a few secs, however if your having trouble does it start ok by turning the key to glow then off then repeat 3 times does it start ok then?
