Is it just me, or where I live? ALL of the roundabout warning signs have disappeared. Where I live, giving way at a roundabout just does not happen, mostly with "new" drivers.

News item today saying they are being cut down and stolen for their scrap value - they are aluminium. Also manhole covers are being stolen, leaving large holes in the road, obviously!

I can vouch for that manhole covers disappear nightly around the Leeds area.

I inspected a roadsign recently. It had a sticker saying that it was made of plastic, not aluminium, and had no scrap value.

Of course it's also possible that we are about to be invaded by enemy troops, and the authorities are removing signposts so that they'll get lost, wander into pubs and ask for coffee in foreign accents...

This sort of thing was one of the reasons I wouldn't live any closer than Doncaster when I worked in Leeds!
