Maybe the leaflet that the other posters appear to have received through their letter boxes actually refers to cars.

i take it you are referring to this whingeing/moaning thread :
www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?f=2&t=46...7
instead of the usual negative bleating, it would do harm to those complaining to use this facility:
www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/low-emission-zone/consultation....p
at least they will then have had a chance to register their protests officially, even if these are ignored in the end.

I find that walking overcomes most of the traffic calming measures. Try it:)

Problem is that the emissions in London from the Priuses etc will be no lower than a Focus TDCi or D4D Corolla though the emissions from manufacture of the hybrids will be 50% more than an equivalent TD (not to mention the disposal) so at best all you are doing is taking a small problem from London and making a bigger one elsewhere in the world.
NIMBYist, yes!
Environmentally positive no!

I do notice that there is no mention, apart from vehicles, about causes of pollution.....

NOx and particulates are the main concern for urban pollution, and a quick check of the VCA database shows the Prius as being a factor of twenty (20) times less polluting for NOx than either the Focus or Corolla. And not being a diesel, knocks out the particulate problem. The Focus doesn't even meet Euro IV...
