Best time to sell? - rjtyrell
Hi,

My girlfriend has a 54 plate MGTF, 135BHP special anniversary edition. I know she is going to lose loads on it, but she needs to sell to clear some bills.

It only has 4K on the clock, is in perfect condition throughout, no hard top.

Parkers guide suggests she will get 9K in a private sale, do you think this price is right?, also I was thinking about spring time as the best time to sell?

Quite a hard private sale I'd suggest, as buyers with that kind of budget may want dealer finance and warranty. Quite a few 2001 models from private sellers asking £6k on Auto Trader, which suggests that £8k might be possible.

Autotrader has many of simialr age and low miles (less than 10K) - prices asked £8.5-£11.5K but how many will sell at thewir asking price (or near that especially in the winter) is another question.

Best time for convertibles is the Spring - 6mths time
