bmw 318is smoking - adam f
put a new exhaust on and now loads of smoke is coming out when revving. at idle there is no smoke.
any ideas

what colour is the smoke?? maybe confused with condesation after a new exhaust change, they usually get better once bedded in after 400mls.

How long has the exhaust been on? If you've just fitted it and only run the engine for a few minutes, it's probably just moisture in the new system being evaporated off. There is a fair mass of sound deadening material in the boxes so it may take a while.

id say condensation that exhaust might of been in the rack for a few months prior to fitting, if it wasn't there before don't worry.

it has been on for a few days but i have only done 15miles in it since fitted

Not just condensation;when an exhaust is made,the sound deadening is packed into the mufflers in thin plastic bags(to hold the filling in shape and to protect the operator and his workplace.)This plastic needs to get hot to melt and burn-off.Makes for an increase in noise,smell and smoke till bedded in.
