Agila/Wagon R question please. - Pete
Can anyone clear up the following please ?

My sister has recently shown interest in a new Vaux Agila or Suzuki Wagon R.

Vaux dealer says Suzuki have ceased or are about to cease, production of the Wagon R. Suzuki dealer says Vaux are about to cease production of the Agila.

Is it one, the other or are both about to stop production ?

Thank you.

Can you not steer her towards something a little less, well, Postman Pat?

When she comes to sell the car will be hit by huge depreciation: it simply isn't desirable.

You think I don't know that ?

Theres a Yaris appreciation club on here, what about a tidy 2nd hand one?

Point out that they are likely to blow over on windy days, and have little crash resistance.
Who cares if you have 3 foot of headroom anyway?

Kev

P.S I guess they will be going out of production, not seen many......

My wife has one, it's a great little car. It's the only car we found which was
suitable to take her mother's wheelchair without folding it down.
With the new Corsa mini MPV on the horizon I wouldn't be surprised if they were
thinking of chopping the Agila. It's a shame because the Agila does the job
and I found that on the Cornwall run it behaved perfectly O.K.

I've read somewhere recently that if and when GM buy Daewoo the Matiz would probably supersede the Agila.

The Agila simply hasn't been selling. That's why GM will chop it. The Yaris is a whole lot better. And for versatility in a proper car, I have to blow the trumpet of the Jazz.

Are there any significant differences between them? We have lots of Wagon R's round here, but I've never seen an Agila.

FWIW, I think the design is pretty neat, and has more usable luggage room than many larger vehicles. Even quite large estates are often height restricted - our old Pug 305 estate holds more than the equivalent Vauxhall Omega, for instance.

You might not want to carry furniture very often, but when you do...
Re: Agila/Wagon R question please. - Pete
Same bodyshell, different mechanicals. Agila is in 1000 and 1200, not available as an auto. Suzuki did do 1000 and 1200 but now do only 1300 and is available with auto box.

We find that Suzuki is better trim level and the Agila costs a full £500 more to match the same level of spec.
