The breakdown cover that came with my approved used motor has expired, so i just tried to re-activate my old RAC breakdown cover that i put on hold last year. They won't honour the 2 months that was left until renewal date(which i would like to use now), and insist that i renew for 12 months from now instead. So, if i have to renew for 12 months now, i'd prefer to buy from somewhere else. Any recommendations??

If you go somewhere else you'll lose the two months refund you have with the RAC - they should give you a discount on the cost of 12 months membership. I was in an identical situation to yourself.
Stick with the RAC, they're the best of the lot in my experience

Tend to agree with above but.............
Depends on whether you want cover for just you or partner/spouse and/or children etc. Also if you want to cover the car or the person.
Rac covers whoever is named in whatever vehicle, even as passenger, where most cheaper breakdowns specify the reg of the vehicle covered. Big difference imo.

I used both AA and RAC before switching to Britannia Rescue, whose response times and agents' service has in my experience been better than either.
Britannia also do 'personal cover' at a competitive rate ( giving cover as driver or passenger in any vehicle.)
They use a network of local agents for rapid response, so have usually been found to be quickest in surveys, and have sent out feedback forms to monitor quality for some years now.
