VW Passat TDI direction indicator prob

VW Passat TDI direction indicator prob - New2TDI
Hi Guys,

The indicators in my Passat (2001) are only working intermittently when the stalk is engaged. Any tips on where I might start to look or what needs to be replaced?

Hazard switch is a common failure . The flasher unit is part of the switch.

Thanks Eleckie.
Quickly flicking the hazard switch kicks the indicators in to life so I tried to take it out to replace the relay. Using a a thin screwdriver I tried to prise out the switch but could only manage to take the switch cover off. Any ides on how I get the hazard swicth out with out damaging anything?

Sorry, dont have a solution but wondered if its the same problem as the one I listed this evening "Audi A3 Tdi - indicator problem"
