any recomendations as to make and grade of oil for this car as used magnatec10-40 in my last one but this says 5w-20(5w-30) and magnatec dont do that.Did notice that they have that spec with their Edge brand and was wondering if anyone had used that

Assuming it's a recent car, 10w40 semi-synth (Magnatec) will be fine. You can pay more and have Edge, but there's no point really. If you took your car to an independent garage for an oil change, they'd put 10w40 semi-synthetic in.
Brand names don't matter as long as the oil conforms to the right specifications (which most will). Halfords own brand will work just as well as the more expensive brand-names. It'll be cheaper still from an independent motor-factor, and good places only stock decent oil.

These can use anything from a 5W-30 to a 10W-40. I would be inclined to go for the thinner grade in winter or when doing short runs. Shell Helix is available in a 5w-30 or you could try Halfords fully-synth 5W-40 which is offer at the moment I think for about £16 for 5l. GM dealers also sell a 5W-540 synth at a good price. Magnatec is a pretty average oil, no reason to stick with it.
