Good bye Sudan hello.... Saudi - mrmender
As many of the regulars here will know for the last 2 years i've been working in Sudan. I've just finnished there and on the 8th of Sept will be flying out to Saudi to start a new job
Looking foward to passing any motoring relaited observations from there. Also looking foward to buying something different out there preferably with a LARGE V8 to take advantage of cheaper petrol!

Have had a couple of visits to Riyadh this year after an absence of two years. Petrol still at 12.5p/litre. Traffic worse than ever, and driving standards haven't improved. Very few European ex-pats around. Those that are there keeping a low profile, and staying away from 4x4s. Armoured personnel carriers rather than tanks outside residential compounds. The "western" compounds have become more multi-cultural.

Never been there mm but my guess is won't be as much fun as Sudan, big V8s apart of course... hope the job's interesting though and that you enjoy it there. I suppose you'll be doing a sort of monthly commute as you did to and from Sudan?

Well i'm here! First motoring observations.... Lots of American tin around i mean LOTS! Will be getting my driving liecence soon and will be issued a company pick up.... No not a Hi Lux as in Sudan but a GMC with a LARGE V8 and auto transmission. All my work mates have similar.
I can't belive the fuel consumpion about 10 to 15 mpg.
Petrol prices have just come down from 1 ryal/Litre to 0 .95, (approx 7 ryals to £10... Cheap as Chips.
I will be getting my own car soon seems pointless going for something small and economical
