New "OLD" VW Camper VAN - Big John
I spotted what seemed to be a brand new "06" reg old style VW Camper Van this week. How can this be?

Thanks for that, how do they get round all the regs (crash, green etc..) There is no way the one I saw would pass a modern "cat" emission test. Looked good though.

I noticed that Cheggers was using one of these 'new'' VW campers during a seasonal holiday resort roadshow item on GMTV a few weeks back. www.snailtrail.co.uk/vw_campervans.htm

No idea how they pass tests. They are very expensive though.

They also stop making them forever very soon.

I remember seeing articles a couple of years ago saying VW where going to bring back a brand-new version - has that fallen by the wayside?

Ah, here we go - first hit on Google www.conceptcar.co.uk/concept-cars/concept-car-37.p...p

Think it did fall by the wayside.. Sure I read that in Auto Express or Auto Car sometime.

BJ - if it passed the approvals process then it must be able to pass the emissions regs, I'd suggest.

www.beetles-uk.com/carsforsale/carview.php?view=80 are the importers I believe.

The "06" one I saw sounded and smelt like an original 1970's van

i thought that is what they were an original design engine with an injection system whacked on it to get the emmissions down but hardly a refined solution
