Mileage too low for me, I would rather have one that's stretched its legs more.

Old shape or new shape?

Im in agreement that the mileage is too low. Has it had timing belt change ? what constitutes full history ? No mot for 1st three years, presumably no service either ?

Mileage would make me look twice as well. Sounds like it may well have had a regular diet of 1 mile each way to the shops. Engine wear could well be that of a 100k+ car as a result.

On that mileage it's more likely to be 5m each way to golf course 4/5 times a week....

I'd be wary too. I purchased a four year old Audi approved used 100 V6 Estate with full history and 21000 miles and checked out OK. Luckly the warranty paid for the following in the next year and 20000 miles; cam belt, tensioners, water pump, front and rear calipers, handbrake and catalytic convertor. Since then just servicing plus a few minor wear and tear items, (still on original brake discs and exhaust, tempting fate), and is now on 131,000 miles, (almost entirely long motorway trips), but I'd think twice before buying a such an 'old', low mileage vehicle again.

Private or dealer sale? If the latter is any warranty offered?
Full history - serviced with Volvo themselves or not?
How sure are you the mileage is genuine?

It does seem rather cheap. Have a look at HJ's car-by-car breakdown for this model and the parkers.co.uk site as well.

Good luck!

It seems a good deal on the face of it, Volvos tend to be very robust and if it is from a dealer with a warranty I think you are on a winner. If private maybe a professional inspection would be advisable.

old shape, full Volvo history I checked owned by retired gentleman who used on weekends only ( ok this is what he said-- seemed genuine to me ).

The oil was very clean he had service 3 months ago. Alot of you think n not a good deal because of low mileage. I respect your opions and have asked or them but will you consider the history and the fact even if it was used very little I'm not why the cam belt would be a problem with a full Volvo service history and only 20K so far. I relize engine need to warm up but if it was used every singel day for a 2 mile journey only maybe the wear is above average but if actually used infrequently not so much a problem.

I was quite pleased with this until I read these posts. The car looks mint th history i really believe is genuion.

So anyone still say nay?

sorry about the grammar, I should of proofed.

I'd make them change the cambelt, double check service history and go for it.

Timing belts degrade with age as well as use. A 2000 model is a 1999 built car so the belt is almost 7 years old. I would get it changed.

Top engine mount is also a weak point (cheap to replace though).

Low-mileage cars are always tempting. If you're really keen on the car, go for it but get a good chunk off the asking price because you will almost certainly have to fix some problems resulting from its under-use. You will probably need to explain o the vendor that low mileage is bad, not good. If you want some back-up on that, find the Great Mileage Debate page at www.ccbenz.co.uk/4436.html (not hotlinked in deference to HJ's policy viz. ads).

If you do buy it, get it into a higher-mileage regime right away. Clean oil aside, I'd be inclined to get all the other fluids changed too, and I'd get an independent specialist to crawl all over it -- better still, get one to check it out before you buy and you might get even more knocked off the price.

P.S. Budget/negotiate for a complete change of tyres too if they are stil the originals. I heed the advice of HJ and others: five years exposed to the elements is enough for a tyre, no matter what the tread depth.
