I am quite happy to get another VW but was wondering what else might do for semi-rough building work. What are those Maxus things like? I am hoping to get the sign writing included on the deal. And this time the van stays at base, no evening/ weekend borrowing from now on. I'm getting tight...

My 2p worth
Probably different usage, but we're getting our new site agent a Renualt Trafic Crew Bus - a LL29 +. It was his choice, which is only fair as he has to drive the thing and look after it. It can carry six people at home, but the back seat folds up Honda Jazz style to let you put in sheets of ply / plbd. Apparently the Nissan / Vauxhall don't have that facility. About £350 / month to lease, but i'm not sure of that, the paperwork's in the office.
My electrican mate has a Vivaro and reckons it's great.

Another VW. Friend got a brand new short wheelbase T5 for about £12k, and its the dog whatsits.

Lot of adverts for Renault vans on the radio at the moment.

I think I will have a look at another VW first. This one has been very good considering the abuse it has had.
Might consider one of those Renault vans particularly as the dealer knows me well, they might do a good deal.

Good mechanical condition.
Interior filthy but would clean up.
Bodywork rough.
Plywood lined in the back.

You can be into a pre registered Transit low spec/low power engine for under £10k.
& I'd guess around £1000 might come your way for the old van.
