My 53 reg astra 1.7tdi estate has just started a droning noise from the back but only when doing around 60+ mph. Any ideas? and would it be under warranty? (vauxhall warranty exp 10/06). We've had some problems with this car and vauxhall have been so helpful.

Windflow round the roof rails - if you have any fitted. Kids getting frightened at 60 mph - if you have any fitted!

Thanks for that. Just put the roofs bars back on a couple of weeks ago. Will take them off. Can't say the same about the kids though!

No I didn't think you were sarcastic. I forgot about the roof bars, we had to pick up some ladders and put them on a couple of weeks ago, the noise has only started over the last couple of weeks.
Dave I will have a look at the wheel. I had a bearing go on my metro I used to have and it was an awful noise, this isn't as loud so fingers crossed its just the roofbars.

Does the noise increase when going around corners? could be a wheel bearing if so.
Or, it could be an out of round tyre. By that, I mean the tyre could have has suffered some damage at some point and the ply's have got damaged. If this is the case, if you look at the tyre end on and spin it around you will see that the tyre has a buckled appearance.
