I am struggling against an overwhelming desire to sell my kids, take a big depreciation knock on my Vectra (fine car) and get a Brera. It is so gorgeous. However, I had a nasty experience with an Alfa dealer a few years ago when I pulled out of a decision to buy a 156. (Torrents of abuse down the phone!)
Anybody got one, or any recent Alfa...is it a dream I should forget!!!

I went to a local Alfa garage for a tyre kicking session the other week. They're beautiful. if you can afford one, go for it!

Alfa's 2.4 20v JTD engine is an absolute peach. Lovely five pot burble and some real grunt (by any standards) to go with it.
That was my view when I drove it in 175 bhp guise in the 156 at least. It's now got another 25 bhp! yum!

I'll second the peachiness of the 2.4jtd engine and the Brera is delicious but be warned that IME the dealer's attitude will drive you to violence if things start to go wrong. Shockingly bad.

Not all dealers some are good, I'd recommend SGT & Medway Alfa as being excellent.
Several guys over on Pistonheads Alfa group have just bought them & they are very happy bunnies indeed.
One guy sold a 2 year old 1.9JTD GT to get his, Oh & the GT had no problems in 2 years & only lot £6K so the Alfa cynics can think on that!

I have the predecessor fitted in my Fiat, but a TD with only 125bhp. I would love a 200bhp in my car as it would make it even better, and I love it as it is anyway!

I've seen a couple in the flesh and it's the best looking car I've ever seen! It's far better in the flesh than in pictures - I though Clarkson went OTT about it until I saw one for real.
The hairs on the back of your neck will stand up everytime you see your own car.

The 4 wheel drive Brera is getting rave reviews in the German motoring press, the 2 wheel drive version less so. I also went and kicked the tyres in an Alfa showroom and I've got a voucher for a 24 hour test drive when I can find some free time. It's a stunning looking car, though a shame the V8 in the prototype never made it to production.

Don't write it off quite yet, they still haven't revealed what the GTA version will have, and there are strong rumours it will be a V8 from Maserati.

I have permission from the wife to buy one. I was caught lusting at the ad."Oh an Alfa" she said. "You can have one of them, I can pick you up in my Honda when it breaks down". I stopped listening after "You can have one of them". Now all I need is the money. I look forward tyo HJ';s review of the diesel engined model. I really want Alfa to build cars that are as reliable as they look good and then I WANT ONE!

The brera is a bag job.
It has the most fabulous butt ever seen, utterly gorgous body and bumpy bits, you know its fabuous in bed and will do the most outrageous things
but it has the face of a greek nanny goat.

It looks fairly ordinary to me in photos but perhaps it's just unphotogenic.
One thing's for sure, like most of its brothers it will be spoiled by the addition of a UK front number plate.
I was at a petrol station on the A5 a few weeks ago when a Ferrari F60 pulled in - no front numberplate. Another customer asked if that wasn't illegal? "Oh, totally" was the reply!

A fancy a Brera in red. Looking at the bumph, Alfa call it 'special' Alfa red. What that seems to mean is that they charge you £400 for a flat red. I never cease to be amazed at their cheek!
