Makro have the above on offer at a reasonable £150 odd inc vat. It is a handheld PDA with built in GPS. Unfortunately I think the deal finishes tomorrow!
Does anyone have one of these? Also does anyone know if I would be able to load TomTom onto it?
I realise this is a short deadline but if anyone could help it would be appreciated!
The Acer spec is on tinyurl.com/zkubm
Thanks

Hi Bobby
I bought the lovely Mrs 3T one for xmas. She uses it mainly as a PDA but occasional use as a Sat Nav. As with most low cost combinations it has some limitations ie it is fairly slow as a PDA and route calc takes more time than a dedicated unit but we have been happy with it. It feels quite flimsy but has taken a couple of drops ok. The supplied nav software is fine , I think you can load Tom Tom on but once you have bought the extra software you might as well get a different unit altogether for the total you will have to spend.
At £150 I would recommend it if you need the PDA functions, if you don't then a dedicated unit would prob suit you better

It's twice the price but six months ago I bought a Palm TX from Amazon with a bluetooth GPS plus TomTom v5 software (which is pretty good plus fast when recalculating). This is quite impressive but doesn't run Windows (if you want that sort of thing) and includes Wifi and makes a good organiser. Depends on whether you use the features....
The battery life on mine is about 6hrs which is a lot longer than the dedicated TomTom units and means you don't need to have all the cables hanging around in the car.

Have a look at the HP iPAQ 1950 Navigator. It has a faster processor than the Acer and is smaller and neater as a PDA. It comes with a very efficient GPS cradle and the Via Michelin navigation sooftware whilst a bit quirky does work well once you've got the destination set. These are now at a very reasonable price at Dabs EBUYER etc.

Thanks for the info guys. Decided not to buy as I hadn't given myself enough time to research it.
Roly, I have previously used my friends HP IPAQ 1710 with Via Michelin and although it worked well, it needed the car cradle for GPS. I was able to put TomTom onto it though.
I will continue to look........
