When a new part is fitted to your car does this item have a guarantee period of time?

As with most things in life the guarantee is usually 12 months on car parts although they will often also have a mileage limit too - so 12 months or 12000miles whichever comes first. Some things like exhausts and cats have longer ones, usually around 2 years.

Kwik-fit used to offer longer warranties on exhausts-you had the option of a 2 or 3-year cover.The exhausts were the same but you paid more to get the extra year.

If the new part was fitted free under warranty then it will not extend beyond the warranty period.
Any other part should have a normal warranty period.
