The clue is in the name - it's a Land Rover, not a Sea Rover.

Meh. Idiots buying 4x4s and then actually taking them off road... what do they expect? The correct place for an SUV is King's Road - everyone knows this. Talk about buying a vehicle unsuitable for purpose...

Saw exactly the same thing with my own eyes about 12 years ago when I was on the set of a French and Saunders take-off of Baywatch being filmed at nearby Brean.
One of the crew parked a brand new lwb Land Rover estate at the water's edge. We locals warned them straight away what would happen but they pooh-poohed what we said. Within 30 minutes the water was over its roof.
When I was working around there a recovery firm with a depot beside the railway line north of Weston-super-Mare had an ex-military Scammell Pioneer tank recovery vehicle that earned its living hauling out abandoned motors on the coast between Uphill and Burnham-on-Sea.

I worked for them for a bit when I was at college, the are called Weston Recovery. That Scammel could raise the titanic. The amount of 4X4 owners who we pulled from the mud was unbelievable, there are signs everywhere and the parking attendants warn you of going to close to the mud. Weston beach will win everytime!!

And along the Thames at St Margarets by Richmond lock. You have to go over , what I believe, are the biggest road humps in the country ( that keep the Thames out of adjacent roads) in order to get to the road along the river bank. They still cant work it out. It is a favourite , non overlooked, road for quiet evenings. Unfortunately the water comes up the drains before it floods over the pavement and with no lights on at night the depth of water can soon cause problems.

Richmond Bridge was always a good viewing point for seeing cars parked on the adjacent slipway.
I can recall us warning clever clogs of the problem when we were kids.

The Thames is semi tidal from Richmond to Teddington and the reverse flow happens very quickly when the gates are raised.

If it was Thames Water, surely it must all leak out almost instantaneously!

Ah. I wondered why I'd parked my car.

As a lad I lived opposite Holy Island in Northumberland. You can only reach there via a causeway which is covered by the tide twice daily.

Despite numerous large warning signs and tide tables , it was then (and probably still is) a regular occurrence for cars to be trapped by the tide and the occupants spend an uncomfortable few hours in the refuge box on stilts watching their pride and joy filling with sea water.
