Mine has fallen off and will not reglue in place, the very cheap replacements are no good they keep falling off. Can anyone recommend a suitable long lasting interior mirror. The car is a Nissan Primera 2000 model. Halfords can only offer a suction securing device.
Many thanks.

Peter, I suggest that the problem is not the mirror itself but the glue you are using. SFAIK there is a special glue sold for this purpose and probably in Halfords.

Take your mirror to a windscreen fitting place, they'll have the correct adhesive to refit the mirror

I agree. They do dozens of these a day, and will have the correct cleaner and proper glue to get a permanent fix. You can spend ages at home trying to do it.

But whatever you do, DON'T use superglue - it will end up cracking the windscreen.
A forum search will reveal more.

The interior mirror became detached from the windscreen on my 1999 Mondeo and I bought a new sticky pad from the local Ford agent for 40p. Remove the old pad, clean up both the mirror base and windscreen with meths before assembly and job done.

A trip to a windscreen fitting place, Speaking to one of the fitters & the offer of some beer tokens will soon have your mirror stuck back on permanently.

I have a niggly problem with both my cars - when the shade temperature goes over 35deg C, which it does a lot at the moment in France, the accessory blind spot mirrors fall off because the glue on the double-sided tape melts! At the moment I have garden plant plastic-covered wire around the main mirrors to hold them on. Is there a glue that will withstand up to say 50deg C?

Maybe a silicone adhesive, or even just bathoom sealant?

I've tried several glues from Halfords but I agree with the suggestion to go to a windscreen repairer for the proper stuff. I used to buy the Vauxhall two part glue kit from the local VX dealer. 10 years later the repair has lasted longer than the original did from the factory. You must clean the screen with something like meths and remove all traces of the old adhesive from both surfaces. As the pad that used to fix Vauxhall mirrors to the screen was metal I even gave that a light sand with fine wet 'n' dry paper.

Following that excellent procedure, I'm not surprised that the mirror is still in place. I've used the same product and a similar routine myself many times on customers' cars, and, as you say, the results are very good.

............. and in that time I've accidentally smacked the interior mirror several times with my elbow while cleaning the inside of the windscreen!!
