Wonderful! Even more spectacular was the last Cord model - circa 1937. Maybe someone will fish out a picture of one of those.

I was thinking of the convertible but the sedan is just as striking.

Erret Lobban Cord - one of the true eccentrics of automotive history. The Cord was never commercial, but wouldn't life have been the poorer without him?

I'm sure we can think of other kindred spirits - Andre Citroen maybe, and John Z. deLorean deserves an honourable mention (well, perhaps not quite honourable....)

Ah the cord. These are not cars as we know them (sorry shouldnt use the term car - these are "automobiles" Its more like art or sculpture. Fine art at that.

De lorean? that was an eyesore in comparison.

"De lorean? that was an eyesore in comparison"

Agreed - no real comparison. But maybe John Z can have a place on the roll of automotive eccentrics.

I suppose he has his place in automotive history,

A Google images search with Cord 1937 gives lots of hits. Choose your colour.

As I have just said today in another thread in an amazing coincidence, 'one of the best-looking American cars of all time'. Actually the word American is redundant.
