Suzuki Swift - Good Price? - tigertone2000
Hello

This is my first post (and first brand-new car purchase) so please be gentle!

I've been quoted £8699 otr including floor mats and mudflaps for a Suzuki Swift 1.5 GLX 3-door in pearlescent paint to be delivered on 1st September. The list price is £8999 plus the cost of the 'flaps and 'mats.

I've been led to believe discounts on these cars are a little difficult to come by so presume I've done quite well - any thoughts please?

I would assume that this is quite good, as I too have heard that discounts on the Swift model are hard to come-by thanks to their popularity, however...I would have a look around at motorpoint and the like and see if they can offer any competitive deals. Also that's quite a long time to wait for a car that sounds quite standard...

I think these cars are selling well and some specs/colours are in short supply - hence the lack of discounts. I managed to negotiate about £500+mats off a red 1.5GLX five door earlier this year - negotiation was done on behalf of my sister who doesn't like haggling. Was quoted about 3 weeks delivery and it ended up being about 7 weeks (a lot of marketing was done using red cars so red was in short supply and she had to wait for a new boat load to arrive).

Sorry, I should have explained - the 1st September delivery date is my choice, not the dealers - chosen as existing (leased) vehicle goes back the day before and also in order to get the new registration (new reg is from 1st September isn't it?).

I didn't specifically check Motorpoint but searched online generally and could only get £250 off via Drivethe Deal. The dealer who's quoted me is also quite local (about 30 miles, I'm in the South West) so I presume that's also a plus point.

Thanks for your reply, by the way.

Well, I don't think you're going to do much better to be honest.

If you're worried about the registration number, then be careful - my car was registered the day before I picked it up.

I paid £8999 otr including floor mats for my Suzuki Swift 1.5 GLX 3-door in pearlescent paint, so you've done alright. I had £8 worth of fuel too. Didn't want any mud flaps and wasn't offered any. I got an excellent trade in deal, so didn't haggle.

I'd take that price - you won't get much better.

Enjoy the car

If you do take it, make delivery on 1st Sept a condition of the contact.
