BBD of Mr di Marco will be along in a minute to translate.
Just look, no need to read.
Ah - its had a bottom-reduction!
The front looks good but the back could be any dreary Euro box.
Might look better in another colour and some inserts on the bumper.
Well at least those teeth grindingly rubbish adverts will go as well.
Do you mean those amusing and stylish ads with a nice bit of musinc and shots of many bottoms, some quite handsome, PU? Always thought they were among the best of their kind (i.e. ads selling cars on style or image to moronic non-motorists).
Another Leon-alike. Just what we need.
As a Fabia owner, that may be a laughable comment, but at least it looks like a small hatchback, and not an SUV/MPV/4WD/7 door coupé crossover niche thingy.
I had to cancel my Jetta order, BTW, and now have an A3 Sport 2.0Tdi on order. Grille is a bit mouthy, but at least it is a (to my eyes)handsome CAR and not a van/clothes-rail hybrid, which is what the Leon reminds me of!
And I bet they raised the centre of g to ruin the one good aspect of old version.
I don't know why but all manufacturers seem to think that they can make performance versions out of mainstream models. It might be a double-decker bus but if we reduce the ride height with 'sports' (read 'Flinstones') suspension by 5mm and add 24" alloys then remove the tyres it will be a great drive.
Except that it won't.

Oh yes, the new Megane: front Megane, rear end like a hunched new shape Vauxhall Astra. Quite good looking actually but less stylish than the one with the bum, and perhaps less spacious? Or has it got generally bigger and fatter, the way they do?

"BBD of Mr di Marco will be along in a minute to translate."
It?s Czech or Slovakian, maybe SJB or Mark will be along in a minute to translate.

£5 says it's Slovenian
Yeah, it's Slovenian... and yesterday's news, as well. BBD put the new Megane III on the cover of our 'national' car mag a good week back.
There's nothing exciting about it, really. It'll be bigger, wider, longer and possibly - better. Oh, and it'll feature a whole new range of petrol engines in cooperation with Nissan.

I am the only Pole over here.

Yep. I just looked up the website domain on swhois.net/ .
Came back with "Jesenice" as part of the address, which is a town in Slovenia.
I'll be glad to see the back of the rear end... if you see what I mean. It was a sure sign they realised what a dreadful styling mistake they'd made when they based most of the advertising around trying to convince us otherwise.
It certainly failed in this neck of the woods.
Takes all sorts to make a world I guess. I liked that shape, fresh and French and sassy, modern Renault style. Looked as if it would go round corners too, and I bet it does.
The new one is more conventional looking, and as some informed eastern-bloc poster has said, bigger and fatter all round than the old one. That old car-industry intellectual meltdown.
It's been a massive seller in Europe, representing a good value breath of fresh air in the otherwise fairly dire mass hatch sector.
And yes it handles extremely well, at least as good as the Focus although the steering on the Ford has a bit more feel to it. However the seats in the Renault are in a different league altogether.
Just seen Fifth Gear's test on the Punto Grande....now I like that, exactly like the big chap said "Looks like a small Maserati" - it's what a proper car should look like.
Anyway would I want to shake my half horse/half donkey even if I had one ?
Sacre Bleu.
Renault you chickens. Fabulous shapes like the Megane and the Aventime down le crapper.

Oh well, at least the next Laguna looks quite nice, at least from the back.

I mean about the Megane. The Laguna looks like a new-shape shark-with-a-stomach-problem Nissan judging by that welter of artists' impressions...

It's a Primera which got got washed at too high a temperature.
What will the 'coupe' look like? Shame no-one told them last time that when you streamline the back windows you drop the roofline as well. Otherwise it looks like what it is now...
I agree with NW. I know!!!
Those headlights look awfully new style Vectra don't they?
You can go off people for daring to compare a Renault with a Vectra.
I think with computer designing, there wont be any difference in shape between any car.
only difference will be, whats inside, certainly seems to be going that way,and all will look the same in years to come!

I think you are right Steve, but, I also think that it is simply a case of form following function (albeit a rather slow evolution). In exactly the same way, most civil jets look pretty similar* in shape and proportion (OK, there's some with rear mounted engines, rather than hanging engines beneath the wings, but that's not much different to the front wheel drive / rear wheel drive thing that goes on with cars)
* unless plane spotting is your excuse for sporting an anorak and thermos!!!
