Hi all,
Any chance of some advice valuing a car? How much do you think the following car is worth:
J reg (92ish) 1.3 Fiesta Flight.
12 months MOT and a few months Tax.
Good condition, not exceptional.
Off the top of my head I'm thinking no more than £300-thoughts?
Thank you.

£100 tops.

Thanks
That's what I like to hear! Does anyone know the 'book' figures
for this. Thinking about it, it can't be worth a lot.

Speaking as a "Meldrew Miser" why don't you do what everybody else seems to do and go to to WHS and read Parkers Guide for free for a couple of minutes?! It won't be dead accurate but it will be a 'guide'!

I didn't think Parkers went back that far?
Yes, you may get £300 privately, but if it's not in best condition I wouldn't expect any more. Newer cars go for less these days.

Mfarrow - I am sure you are right but somewhere under Big and Bouncy and Juicy Melons there is a price listing mag that specialises in older cars, I think.

it'll have hardly any intrinsic worth, although the 12 months MOT might get it up to £250 - £300

Are you buying or selling?
I would not give more than £100 for any 14 to 15 year old car. It's only one step away from the scrap yard. I was chatting to a bloke the other day who had just bought privately a 1993 L reg Rover 623, all the toys you could think of and lovely leather interior. All in good nick apart from the usual bit of rust around the rear wheel arches. Full service history, initially Rover then independent. He paid £350 for this and has got a cracking car. So a noisy rough uncomfortable old Fiesta - I am not sure I would want it if it was free.
But it only takes one - although if it's on ebay you will get more, it amazes me what some old junk will fetch. People must get trigger happy with the keyboard.

"Parkers" is on the net anyway.Try www.parkers.co.uk

Thanks for the advice everyone. I was looking to buy-someone I know at work is wanting rid of theirs but tbh I think they want fantasy money-saw their window advert that said £450ono but surprisingly they still haven't managed to sell it at that price.
Would make a good car for my girlfriend to practice in and then own when she passes her driving test-well as good as any car of that class and vintage.
I know parkers goes back to '89 or whatever but valuations this old cost money so I thought I'd try and get some free advice here first.

£450ono? LOL

Xileno writes "I would not give more than £100 for any 14 or 15 yr old car. It's only one step away from the scrap yard."
That's rather a shortsighted thing to write when you see the longevity of Mark 2 Golfs. According to the motoring mags, these vehicles just go on and on.
Look at the prices being asked for such cars by specialist dealers like volkswizard.co.uk

£450ono? LOL
LOL indeed.. My brother has been offered (by a work colleague) an R-reg Saxo diesel in okay nick, for £500!

Its worth what your locality will stand, look in local paper for an idea but be aware men in shorts will be round wanting a minter for their prodigy to go to college in.
Oh nearly forgot they will probably want a full service history as well.
I have crushed cars of this age for the last 4 years now they are not worth the kind of customer generated, so best of luck OP and i hope you drop lucky with someone sensible.
