It wasn't his fault. Further investigation has revealed that while the car was parked and he was shopping, some miscreant prised the "O" off the bodywork. When he switched the ignition on to return home the latest software upgrade to enhance the full body control computer noticed this and acted accordingly. As soon as it detected the opportunity it turned itself into a "PUNT!"
