Read the Eos ad write-up at the weekend, looked at the pics, and thought that it looks solid, but very un-exciting. Does the panel agree?

Raise this in July when my friends take delivery! They have seen it in the metal in Germany and the decision to choose it over a similar priced Mini Cooper wasn't a hard one to make.

It wouldn't be if it were true but the EOS starts at 21,000 quid for the bottom of the range model.
This is some 7,000 more than the Mini convertible..

Think it looks good myself, and I have a real problem with VW and the way it behaves to customers.
My guess though is that Ford will win a lot of people over when the equivalent Focus finally arrives.

If you think the eos is dull you must have a lovely aston or something.mx5's are what you call plain!!

That roof scares me, what will it look like after sonny jim puts his tinnis racket through it when its opening.

From the prices on 5th Gear it seems quite expensive as well. Jason talked of prices starting at £19K ouch
|
Typical VW.They price it way above others believing some stupid Brit will pay over the odds because they think anything with a German badge on the front will be better. Fair play to them I say if they can get away with it.
I've just seen one of those new Astra Twin Tops in the local Vauxhall dealer and it's a beautiful looking thing. Several thousand cheaper than the VW to boot. I know where I'd put my money.
I bet the Focus thingy will be cheaper too.
|
I can second that - saw one of the Astra Twintops on the Autobahn here last year, and couldn´t believe how stylish it was, particularly compared to the 307CC.
|
Jason did give the impression that he liked the Eos but not necessarily the prices.

These things are nothing but a liability. I've read elsewhere of a 206CC that had its hydraulic pump seize, which in turn burnt out its motor, which in turn blew the ECU that controls the roof. This little lot with fitting and VAT came to nearly £5K
When these cars get to 5 years old and sub £10K who's going to be brave / stupid enough to buy one?
In 10 years time a perfectly usable car will be scrapped due to a faulty roof, where as a new hood for a 15 year old MX5 is £350 fitted.
How much do you want one?

A rather different kettle of fish...:-)
