VW Sharan 1.9tdi Auto gearbox - joanyjo22
Hi
I'm having problems with my 1997 VW SharanAuto. It won't change from second to third gear unless I'm doing excessive speeds and won't go into fourth at all. Has anyone got any suggestions / solutions.

Have you checked the oil level as per your instruction manual?

Yes the oil level is ok

Change the oil through the oil cooler lines as this expells the ATF in the torque convertor too. If this doesn't help it's bad news I'm afraid.

Sounds like could be output shaft speed sensor. Whatever, I think its going to have to go to an auto trans specialist.
