The "digital tyre compressor" regularly advertised in the Telegraph and which also appears in widget catalogues (e.g. Coopers of Stortford) at £29.99 is excellent. It is accurate (I check it regularly) and the gauge is clear (unlike a Halfords one given to me). It's in the gadgets section here:

Argos used to do a tyre inflator that ran off the mains as well as the ciggie lighter. Sadly not anymore. I want one of these for inflating paddling pools, airbeds and so on but cannot find one anywhere. Last time we had the family to stay I had to take the airbed out to the car to inflate it and it took ages (the footpump was kaput). Where can I find one?

I'd be tempted to use a car battery charger, that way you get a battery charger for whne you need one, rather than a second air punp.
