Can anyone advise what type of heat reflecting windscreen a Mercedes E Class would have if it is fitted?
A manager at work wants to use a Tom Tom device and the website states they will not work with athermic type heat reflecting windscreens.

His car does have a heat reflecting windscreen but is it athermic? (Sorry if they are one and the same!)

It's an E270 auto Avantgarde about 2 years old.

SFAIK I think they are one and the same. I have an Origin B2 and that doesn't not work well with the aerial on the dash. Luckily it came with a long extension lead and I have the aerial mounted on the rear parcel shelf and it is fine. I do not know if Tom Tom do external aerials but there are so many cars around with athermic or heated windscreens that I think they must.

Or you can use a re-radiating antenna as I did in the goona with an aethermic screen

Thanks both for the replies.
Always more complicated than it first seems! lol.

TVM - do you know we could get one of those aerials you mention?
Is it cabled into the car ir just plugged into the device?

Thanks

Wife's Clio has a square hole in the heat refecting element just where you might mount a radar detector or perhaps a sat nav aerial.

Search any of the GPS sites on the web for a re-radiating antenna. It plugs into the power point for power, has a magnetic aerial block, and has a stubby little aerial you put near the sat nav

bout 30 quid

Just a thought. I had to use a Zafira with a heat reflecting windscreen, and got around this by putting the Tomtom aerial in the sunroof. Worked at no cost, but not an elegant long-term option.
