Service costs and intervals - Info reqd. - autumnboy
I'm shortly to renew my car.

What are the service costs and service intervals for the models listed below.

My mileage will be approx. 14k/yr

Audi A4 2.0td
Ford Mondeo 2.0td(130ps)
Mazda6 2.3td sports
Toyota Avenis 2.2td
Volkswagen Passat 2.0td {edited - DD}
Vauxhall Vectra 1.9td (150ps) {edited - DD}

For the Mondeo the intervals are 12.5k minor and 37.5k major - I pay £120 and £155 respectively.

My local dealer is reasonable though - some places charge a lot more.

The major service cost here seems very cheap for a main Ford dealer, we have a 53 plate Focus and the 12,500 mile service cost about £140.

I was just testing to see who was awake.

It should be Volkswagen Passat 2.0td and Vauxhall Vectra 1.9td (150ps)

Audi A4 2.0 TD interim service (variable, may be anywhere between 16,000 and 25,000 miles depending on driving mix), can vary from £260 to £310 depending where you are in the country.

Major service again variable (for argunments sake say 40,000 miles, £450 ish.

ok the services are at 10k oil change and 20k main for a Avensis. But at what costs ??

From what i can remember it was about £100 for the oil and about £150 for the main. However very little is actually done on either service apart from oil and filter - a few checks and you pay for anything that they find needs doing such as air filter, plugs etc.

At the moment I favour the Passat estate with the Vectra estate in second place. Knowing the Passat has a higher service cost than most, but the general various test reports (flt/news - A/express - A/car) give it a good mark and the Mondeo in general overall to be the worse.

What are your comments please.
