Can anyone post a link or advice re comparing the above two versions ie mpg and performance.
I can get the dci 65 from current literature but struggling to find anything on the dci 80?

My wife runs a 65bhp clio and it averages around 63mpg with a mix of town and motorway driving. The car is 4 years old next month (02 plate) and has never had any problems. The only time it went back to the dealer was for a recall. I asked a mpg question on the motoring chat page on AOL and a driving instructor replied saying he has owned 3 dci clios,2 65bhps and one 80bhp. He said the 65bhp was more reliable, easier to drive and less troublesome than the 80bhp version. i think they are good cars for not a lot of money. Try renaultforums.co.uk for owner likes and dislikes.

Thanks for that, I know the dci 65 has a 0-60 time of about 15 secs which scares me!! Do the in-gear times (eg. 30-50) feel faster?
I currently have a Saxo Diesel which is too slow for me but I can't see the Clio being any quicker!

Bobbyg i think you will find it feels faster than the figures suggest. Then again if you want sports car performance, buy a sports car.
