Hi just got a Dti LS Astra diesel 42k on clock and its giving me problems first start of the day. Takes about 5 mins to start it, after that no probs apart from today when it played up after leaving it fot 3 hrs.Heard it might be injector seals letting fuel drain back into tank But also heard it could cost £300 to get em replaced due to labour involved, any ideas to try before this 1 ? Never had a diesel before any do's and dont's to owning one?

Air getting into the fuel either at the primer or the fuel filter or associates connection. Try priming the car for a minute before starting her up. Regards Peter

When you say primimg Peter , do you mean just pumping the gas pedal a few times?

Very very common problem with these engines is perishing of the injector overspill pipes causing air leakage in the fuel system when left standing. Costs peanuts to replace tiny rubber pipes if you get the pipe then diy.
Symptoms are hard starting but car usually runs okay once started.
This is much talked about on this forum relating usually to Vectras, Saab 93 etc, which have the same basic engine. I would advise against letting a garage talk you into changing the injector seals as this is expensive and 95% of the time a red-herring.

Thanks for your advice Roly, are these overspill pipes easy to locate or will I need a gynacologist?

As Roly says its a very common fault with these engines.
As you stand in front of the engine you will see them sticking out from underneath the plastic cam cover.
Remove the cover and you will see them connecting to little plastic T fittings.
A Vauxhal dealer will try to persuade you its the injector seals which it sometimes is but much more likely to be these rubber pipes. If they are the furry type of rubber pipe it certainly will be the problem.
