Specs on the M56-Runcorn junction? - doug_r1
I was riding home tonight past the Runcorn junction on the M56, they are replacing the parapet on the viaduct for the next few months, and it looks like specs gantries are going up. Has anyone heard anything about this? The gantry I spotted was about 100 yards past the bottom of the viaduct heading towards Chester.

Ahh, so that's what their doing. Do you mean the barriers down the side?

There was a fatal accident here a few years ago; a road tanker full of petrol careered off the road and through the side of the bridge and fell onto the marshland 10s of feet below. It exploded and killed the driver. Not sure if that's got anything to do with it.

I use this junction regularly.

Thanks for the link, the local radio has had Highways Agency adverts for the road works for the last few weeks. It should be fun in the mornings for the next six months, that junction is very slow even without roadworks.

Runcorn is a place I avoid like the plague.

You are constantly going round in circles even though the road maps state otherwise.

I had a better look this morning, there is one gantry right at the bottom of the viaduct, one just as you are about to merge with the motorway from Runcorn/Frodsham, and they are just installing another around the 300 yard marker before the exit for Runcorn, all on the side heading for Chester.

I also avoid Runcorn like I avoid clichés: like the plague...

Not because of the traffic, but because of "Two pints of Lager and a packet of Crisps". I don't want to meet people like that!

One of the few programmes that makes me laugh out loud...:-)

The "Brookside" style sequence in one particular early episode is a classic.
