Can someone explain the difference in these?

For example - looking at Omegas - the lower spec ones seem to have a two line display and the Elite's seem to have a full screen. What's the difference and what model has which?

Anyone know?

Same in Vectras, SRi, CDX larger display, LS, GLS smaller display, the larger display has a comprehensive trip computer (via buttons on the stalks), stop watch etc plus various warnings for bulbs gone, screen wash low etc, also it says "Phone" if you have a wired in mobile so you can have the ring switched off. I had two Vectra SRi's with the larger display, a good system. Also if I got in a car with the smaller display I always though that it looked greenish and did not match the rest of the illumination as well as the larger version.

Do they all 'go' eventually? Mine has a load of bust segments in the display (99 T)

I seem to recall there is a fix involving removing it and resoldering "stuff"

Thanks Gents.

I saw one the other day that had all the bulbs changed to blue! Actually looked surprisingly good. Very VWish.

If you ebay search Omega Dash, you'll see the blue display lighting on there.

So it sounds as though there's a pcb on the back. The only pcb I've ever played with was on the back of the dash of my 1984 Merc.

I cannot see why scraping an oxide coating off the pcb should cause the current to flow again - but there are no piccies on that link.

Any ideas?

There used to be, but I think they were lost when the site changed the server it used to be on.

Upon re-reading the link, it appears the OP took offence to the comment made by Juha Ritala - an RF-Design Engineer and subsequently removed his pictures from the photobucket host site.

Some of the other pictures that have been posted on that site however were lost with the server changes, IIRC.

Specifically talking about Omegas there were a variety of displays over the years, the main two are the TID - triple info display ( time, date, temperature) and the MID - Multi (?) info display - (time, date , temperature plus mpg, distance, stopwatch, fluid levels, bulb status yada yada.)

I believe the MID was standard on the CD and above, certainly my 94 & 95 CDs have it. They are just starting to show a few 'dead pixels' but I can't be bovvered to strip down the units, given the value of the cars.

The inclusion of sat. nav. in the later models complicates the issue somewhat.

Mine's the TID.
