A few weeks back I spilled 1/4 pint of milk on my new Golf's carpet. It immediately soaked in and no amount of cleaning can remove the smell of sour milk.
Short of changing the carpet I don't know what to do.
Has anyone any ideas?

Spray it with Neutradol - it kills the bacteria that causes the smell.

Try a vinegar solution. I haven't used it on a car carpet but I have used it on a kitchen carpet (more than once.....).
There is a good site at www.ehow.com that collects tips like this from all over the world. Worth checking out for ideas so long as you remember that nobody is liable for the suggestion going wrong!
