Im thinking of buying the mark 2 facelifted Clio. Just thought id put something out on here to see what people think of it.
What do people think of an 03 1.4 for about £5500.
HJ said the chasis was old but it ticks all the boxes for me.
Any comments greatly appreciated

Wife has run a 2000 w reg clio for 5 years and 40k miles. The facelift uses the same mechanicals.
The sun roof rattles - they all do it. It broke a seat belt switch, and it leaked oil from a loose oil pressure switch. And that is the entire sum of all the unscheduled things that happened with it and has sailed through two MOT's . Budget for a cambelt change and water pump change at 5 years or 60k miles. Its a *must do by those timescales* Bout 350 quid at your independent.
Its a hoot. I love its nimble and nippy handling, its laso a good ride, and despite being a 1.2 you can rev its guts and it will hustle.

Wife has a 98 Clio 1.6 so also clearly pre facelift, we have had it since 2001 when it had only done 4k miles, now 39k, yes the sunroof rattles when open, it had a power steering fluid leak from a pressure switch, a new back box a couple of years ago and a new battery a few weeks ago. I detect a slight blowing from somewhere near the front of the exhaust which will need attending to prior to the next MOT. The cambelt was done at 5 years by Renault Minute, 200 quid inc oil and filter.
All in all a great car, fun to drive and gutsy performance.
