I saw this car for sale on a 'main-dealer' forecourt in Bangor, North Wales (not a Jaguar dealer). I walked round the car and inspected it from the outside; no obvious scratches, tattiness, need of repair that I could see; inside & out.
Is this a record?

Like an XJ-S for the new millennium.
Looks lovely but worth almost nothing when they're getting on a bit.

It's the sort of thing a dealer might stick on his forecourt whilst awaiting collection to go to auction. If it sells great he'll do it as a retail deal, if not it'll go to auction and he'll just clear it off the front.
|
Why so valueless? Has it got problems? Is it a dog?
Quite a good 10k's worth if not.
|
Its 10 years old.

A colleague has just sold his. P plate, bought for 15k a year ago, sold it to a dealer for £12k. Drove from the Wirral to Manchester every day, not a problem.

If you want a jaguar, get a £500 one. The anticipated 100% depreciation over a very short time will be much less painful. And jolly stylish whilst it lasts.
XJ6 eBay item 4629063728 only £300 12 months MOT and an unidentified intermittent problem. 4631182262 same price, similar problem.

Jaguars have never held their value that well.
I must admit I have been tempted with some nice examples in the past but I knew they would be bad investments.

>>Jaguars have never held their value that well.
Every time I get into the jag section of eBay my mouth waters. XJS £500...
The only jags that do hold their value well are the older models. Mk ii (which has always been my ideal car); E-type.

But look at when they were 10-15 years old, you could hardly give them away

Values have been hit by the new XK and will probably get worse yet, despite the fact it's a beautiful car, it's quite common.
Ploughing a similar furrow is the Aston DB7/DB9, but DB7s are staying quite firm , suggesting the AM brand is on the up.
