My Passat (99 V plate) has "ABS FAULT" indicated after I've picked it up after a steering rack gaiter replacement to get through the MOT - should the garage doing the work/MOT have given it a pass?
Their response was that it's been disturbed and should correct itself within a few miles (I'm still waiting). I think they've forgotten to reconnect a sensor. Any ideas?

A car with ABS must pass with no ABS faults to get an MOT. Take it back and get them to do it properly.

"A car with ABS must pass with no ABS faults to get an MOT"
Not quite true
The ABS warning light sequence must work correctly to pass an MOT, and this is usually checked with the car stationary.
Considering that most MOT tests don't involve a road test - some ABS faults can and frequently do pass.

I do agree that you should take it back to the garage though - they will have inadvertantly caused the problem.
