Perhaps the picture is representational - since we don't get to see the item, there's no real need to see the outside of her house!
|
|
|
Definitely a British house. Probably just used that picture because it's a good picture to use and has a nice 156 in the drive.
Bet you any money the car is something silly like a Lupo or something.
|
I was going to say it was representational but I liked going all round the houses!
|
|
I don't care where or what it is - but next time son annoys me I will send him the link ......
|
|
Cant be a Lupo, it says made in Asia and is a "sports car", strange about the clearly UK pic when all else points to it being a US based sale. I for one would not touch it though perhaps there is nothing to lose, you either get a bargain or pull out.

Lupo or something
A lupo from Asia ? Remember the exam tip "Read the question properly !"

>>Definitely a British house.>>
Fully agree - never get a typical US car through one of those garage doors and the house alarm box is very British.
>>Bet you any money the car is something silly like a Lupo or something.>>
The claim is that it's black and was made in Asia.
Here's some clues Adam..:-)

What\'s for you won\'t pass you by

Alright then - a Hyundai Atoz or something! Don't let the "sports car" fool you. They're Americans - stick a silly exhaust on it and it's a sports car.
Why say made in "Asia" and not Japan? I can't think of a single good Asian non Japanese sports car. Can you?
|
|
Nice blinged up Mitsubishi L200 perhaps. Or a CityRover with black windows.
|
I was amazed someone will bid $8900 on an unknown car. Then I looked at some of the other mystery auctions, and it suddenly didnt sound quite as daft! snipurl.com/ocyy , snipurl.com/oczt ("Clue: Driveable kitty kat, sports car from Blackpool, England" - looks like theyve got their marques mixed up).
Of course the winning bidder may not bother paying, I've seen stupid items get bid up to $10 million just to wind up the seller. Stuff like "bottle of water from a pool that Angelina Jolie may have swum in".
|
The house is in Bracknel, the car is a r/h drive Alfa 156 bought from Cleveland Fiat in Guildford, and the mystery car is a black Huyundai coupe.

How d'ya know that???
|
Because the law of averages dictate!
It's a RHD Alfa 156 outside an English (not British) house - you can just tell! - so why not as TVM says. Besides, its probably a photo of his brother's house.
--
Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?
|
Also you are only bidding on a set of keys. The car is actually a "gift" so presumably at the seller's discretion.
How do you even claim title to the car? What is to stop the seller under US law from sending the spare set of keys off to the buyer and then either changing the locks or simply selling the car short of a set of keys that could by then be 2,500 miles away?
Plus made in *Asia* not Japan? Hyundai Tiburon perhaps?

Yes, it does look like a typical English sub-urban scene.
'cept I can't recall ever having seen a modestish English semi having a double garage.
There's few enuff of 'em with a single garage...that hasn't been converted to a dining room.
|
Yes, it does look like a typical English sub-urban scene 'cept I can't recall ever having seen a modestish English semi
....having such small leaded light panes in modern frames.
The windows are totally different from any UK ones I have seen and the garage doors look too tall for this type of UK house.
The roof overlaps far more than UK ones.
My vote is for a non UK house.
|
Sorry to completely destroy your theory Henry but my mate's house has identical windows to that. (I know - sad that I noticed).
He has a double garage too. And lives in a modest semi...
....say...he has a 156 too...

>>Oh dear. I thought windows like that were in dolls houses.

Are any Alfas sold over the pond?

And the Hyundai is still in the original Mattel box.
Kevin...

Oh come on. Pavoir bricks on drive, English moulded bricks (flettons?) laid in a stretcher bond for walls, concrete roof tiles, B+Q PIR security light, tree in background with no leaves, tulips in hanging basket.
Its an English house in Spring.

Oh come off it, TVM.
That house has got 2 bedrooms, tops. And I bet you can't get a wardrobe both sides of the double bed in either.
I bet there's few or no houses in England where the number of bedrooms equals the number of garage car-spaces.
|
That's a three bedroomed house.
|
I agree with TVM, 30years, in the building trade tells me thats British and its not a semi but detached. Look for the chimney its only on one side, plus loads of other clues.

|
No visible aerial either. Would the drainpipe come down the middle of the house though?
I'm sure I should be doing something better with my time!
|
What about a townhouse?
I bet you that left hand garage belongs to the house on the left we can't see. Why have one stupidly powered halogen light on one side of your garage and then an ornate one on the left?
I should be a detective me.
|
You can see a gap at the side of the garage, it wouldn't belong to anyone else.
GB
|
Depends! but think how long it would be if it terminated at one end? I can't sleep either.
GB
|
I honestly can't believe it's midnight, on the eve of my dissertation deadline and I'm talking garages! BUT I'm due a break so,
Could there not be a gap on the other side of the garage too and it's just the perpsective we're seeing it at making it look like it's attached?
|
No it can't. There's a plant on the very left of the screen.
|
Good luck with the finals! I know how you feel.

- Houses in Durham look like this: www.nchomerentals.com/propertiesdurham.htm
- There's enough green stuff at the base of the walls to confirm this house lives in our temperate climate
- I see no steering wheel through that passenger windscreen

It is either a three bed semi or a larger house, approx 1967 - 74, the chimney appears to be where the other semi would be so perhaps it is a larger detached house and we can only see half of it.
|
|
It just goes to show you can put almost anything on e bay and some MUG will come along and bid.Why the secrecy, answer to get the mug interested,as the seller states they have had hundreds of enquiries just makes you realise how gullable some poeple are.
