hello, i was extremely interested in this particular find off eBay and like the car.
Problem is the questions at the bottom ! Have a read.
Wonder what sort of money he wants for the car ?

Looks genuine just hounded by idiots.

I'm not an 'e-bay' addict - never sold/bought on there, but DID think it would be a good place to actually sell vehicles.
Is this a standard sort of communication people get, on there, or just 'cos the guy is offering something a bit unusual?
Think I'd rather have the silly phone calls, from people asking questions at THEIR expense, rather than waste time typing back to them!!

I got 3 or 4 fairly boring questions from lookers but oddly none of them bid
|
im with vansboy if they want to waste their time on the phone to me i will suffer them as once ive wound them up a little bit they are then history ;)

Feedback of 63 and an ebay history going back few years - he's probably a genuine ebay plodder, getting a load of hassle from the internet equivalent of 'tyre-kickers'
Go on, get out of the car...

Why would someone sell a second key?

TBH,its not a great car to go for, certainly not for cost of repairs and they did suffer water leaks/gearbox/electrical problems that the older ones didnt.
ignition problems on these IIRC cost several hundred to correct, and as I recall LPG did not do engine on these any favours.. worst Granada they made in most respects including looks.
But if you like it???,Just beware they can be expensive

I think they look pretty nice - different certainly which is probably what does it.
The problem is, it's a 2.0 - hardly a powerful engine. In a car as big as that, I imagine it'd be dog slow.
Add to that your comments about it being LPG Steve and it doesn't look like such a good buy.

You are the last person I would have expected to think that?
Different yes,but not what most would expect from ford, dull drab, expensive to repair Has very little following as previous models

No no and no..
Apart from the fact it's a Scorpio, ongoing development of a fairly old model meant that this was the best in terms of engineering (a 24v engine breathed on by Cosworth for heavens sake!). And as for looks, it had brutal road presence particually from the rear which IMO no other has copied to this day.
With the greatest respect Sir you are quite wrong.

>>a 24v engine breathed on by
I'm of course talking Scorpios in general not this particular model. Still IIRC Cosworth may have had something to do with this 4 cylinder engine although no publicity was given at the time.
This engine also appeared in a smaller capacity in the 1992 RS2000.
|
Thanks for all the comments. I thought exactly that - genuine eBayer being wound up by idiots !!
Think i'll place my bid now.
Must say it does look kind of nice - or maybe that's just the way the car is posing!! (wheels turned headlights on!!)

I'll buy you an e-pint if you ask for a reduction to fix the obviously faulty foglight switch. ;o)

Cosw' only breathed on the V6. Quite a complicated engine IIRC, but pleasing to drive I can tell you.

Best way to look at it,best feature I think, certainly not front

It's pretty well immaculate, bound to be comfortable, quite likely reliable and maintainable, certainly not so slow as to be embarrassing, and if you like the doleful-catfish expression on its mug, worth a lot more than its book price to the right person I'd say.
|
Mechanically dodgy these cars might be with little following, but on the following side I beg to differ. The amount of people that bid on these is unreal, because they are different & ugly as some might say certainly doesn't put people off them. I wanted one a while ago, but kept getting outbid because I refused to pay more than what I thought it was worth. The sellers must be laughing by the amount of bids over their actual worth. Going by previous Scorpio watching on Ebay, they certainly do have a large following (practically a cult) & in no way unloved. I'd still have one at the right price given a chance. Thats a 2.3 Ghia if you want to know :-)

When one is in the Driving seat one cannot see the Catfish expression or the road presence from behind. If it goes how you like it and it's comfortable and it makes you grin then who cares what anyone else thinks. Sounds an absolute bargain to me.
