I have a 406 Coupe, the drivers seat heating element has now given up the ghost and decided it will be a chilly start for me in the mornings. I know a new element from pug will set me back £80.00 odd, fitting it is something else more like hundreds.
my question is, do's anyone know of a car upholstery specialist in the north west that might consider this kind of work. The closer to wirral the better.
Thanks

I used to engineer car seats and to swop the heating element may well cost a fortune or it may not.
It depends if the cover is glued onto the foam or if it is hog-ringed.
If it is hogringed, you could possibly do it yourself. Just trim all the metal hogrings off, take the seat cover off, replace the heater element then cable tie the cover back on.
If it is glued, then you will probably need a new seat cushion.
I would say that it is hogringed rather than glued as glueing is a pretty new technology (within last 3 or so years.)
Other suggestion is to wait for a seat to come up on ebay/ at the scrap yard.

Ive done many a Peugeot heated seat repair.
There's loads of little brass clips that hold the material to the cushion part of the seat, The heater element is stuck to the cushion.
The reason the Peugeot heated seats stop working is because some idiot at Peugeot forgot to included a thermo cutout in the design!
Its just switch on, Heat up, Bottom gets hot, You turn seat off, Too late its burnt out.
Its easier with the seat out of the car, You have to disconnect the battery first because of the SRS system, Make sure you have the radio code if its non plexed & shut the alarm system down if fitted.
Make sure you thread lock the seat mountain bolts & the bolt that holds the seat belt bottom mount on to the seat.
I modified my Peugeot heated seats with a couple of thermostat kits from Maplins, Kits cost less then £7 a seat to do, Once switched on & the heated seat got up to 30 degrees C it would cut the power off & stop the seat burning out.
Peugeot recommend cable ties for re assembly & most dealers will give you a handful for free after fleecing you for the heated seat element.
