Hi guys
Anyone got a good recommendation for someone who can fit a good quality window into the side of a VW T5 Transporter, ideally within easy reach of Stamford (Lincs)

Blast, I hoped this was a request for more windows in your TourVan!!
Or alternatively, taking the windows out and putting the van panels back in!! :)
|
Lots of good offers currently, five for the price of four, casement or sash, even half price patio doors if you shop around.

Thirty years ago, my mum's Mini Estate came with patio doors as standard :)

Had windows put in a Mazda van about 8 years ago and extra window put in a Renault Traffic camper about 4 years ago by Autoglass can't remember the exact price but was not outrageous
You have to take the van to thier workshop and seem to remember is charged by how much glass is used hope this helps mm

Most windscreen places will do it.
You'll find a genuine VW part/rubber/frame/glass option is available, too, I'd hazard a guess.

try leisure vehicle windows in corby, they are in the yellow pages
|
this thread prompts the question ,do you have to notify dvla if you fit rear windows to a van and do you then have to repay the vat which would possibly have been claimed back at an earlier time ?any other tax implications ?
|
No need to tell DVLA i wouldnt have thought - unless more seats are fitted. It just becomes a van with a window - its still a commercial vehicle.
|
It's only when you start messing about with seats, as mentioned, do you need to worry about turning a van into a car, for re-classification.
Not a good idea to add seats, as DIY task!!
However, it'd be worth letting the insurers know - addapting a vehicle from original specification etc etc...

The corby place looks ideal.

I had windows fitted to my Transporter T4 by Reisewagen Engineering of Sedgebrook near Grantham. They did an excellent job. That was 10 years ago so I don't know whether they are still there or not
|
Fitting a window in a van to the rear of the driver's seat does convert it to a car for VAT purposes, even if there are no seats behind the driver.
Have a look at Notice 700/64 on the HMRC website.
