I,m thinking of getting a sat nav. I need one that I can use in either car that is easy to use and reliable, any advice would be very welcome.

Good advice. I'd be surprised if TomTom wasn't at the top of most people's lists.

I'm delighted with my TomTom 300 - I paid £270 but you may find one for £250 if you look hard.
It got me from Berkshire to the centre of Manchester today; I was particularly impressed that
- it took me (from the M6) M62 / A602 / A57 rather than the awful A556
- when some tinpot tyrant had closed the A57 underpass and I was forced to turn off, it still got me to the destination a different way.
Personally I prefer a self-contained unit, but bear in mind that you can get one that connects with a PDA, which you may prefer if you want to use the PDA for other things as well.

I got a T-Mobile Smart Phone with Satnav on it. There are good deals at the present. You can use it as a phone and as Satnav at the same time. Totally portable car to car and you can also take it walking with you for directions. Phone links to a Blue Tooth sat' receiver which is smaller than a packet of fags.
Works really well. Comes with a lead that charges phone and receiver at same time from cigar lighter in car.

I have the Garmin i3,now only £150 at Maplins.Input is a bit fiddly until you get used to it.It took me to a little village in Worcester(from Leeds)last weekend, I only wanted the nearest ATM,thought it was odd when I passed Birmingham-no,I jest,it works fine and is a bargain for the price.
