VW passat TDI 130 - sheraz2
hi

i have had the car for about a year recently it has started giving me a few problem. when i start the car it revs up 2 about 3000 rpm and that is just with me turning the key i dont press the accelerator or anything any body experienced this or know what it can be??

Have it checked for codes.
How long does it stay at 3K ?
Could be the throttle position sensor or temp sender

Common fault I think Alec is in the correct area.

hi thanks for the replies it stays at around 3k revs for about 1 second and half then it drops back to normal it does it intermittently aswell

I think I would start looking for a loose cable or a vacuum pipe first.
