Where can I find a true 2002 ( March ) standart sport spec for a Passat 1.9 TDI PD Sport Estate. The present VW spec is of course for the 2005 spec and is different. Thanks Guys. Regards Peter

What information do you need? i can dig out a 2002 Top Gear Mag if you like, although it will be fairly basic information (stereo - yes). Parkers tend to have spec information as well.
I take you've checked the CBCB, just in case?

Thanks for your reply. I am trying to obtain the standard spec for a March 2002 Passat 1.9 TDI PD 6 Sport estate 6 Speed to chack out a car I am looking to buy. It's a low mileage fleet owned car and obtaining the true spec is not proving easy. Alloys, roof bars Radio/cassette, and or CD, cruise control. It has leather and 3 point seat belts. Are leather sports seats heated or is that a winter pack. Thanks for you help. Regards Peter

I think Parker's have a review section where you can get the changes in spec - cst me £1.50 for one I was looking at, and it had each feature and "from" and "to" so you could see when it was withdrawn.

How quickly do you need the info? You could buy this on eBay: snipurl.com/mtnf
Or find a Backroomer that has one and can scan it for you?! Dont nkow where you could find this online, that would be as comprehensive. I bought one when I was considering buying an Audi A4 and it had a full technical info. booklet with it.

Top Gear mag 111, December 2002 - therefore allowing for the lag between the car being released and the mags getting it right.
VW Passat 1.9 TDI PD Sport (130bhp)
£19,875 new
ABS - yes
Traction Control - yes
6 Airbags
Remote central dead locking with alarm and immobiliser
Power steering and adjustable steering wheel
NO electric seat adjust
Electric windows all round
Electric mirrors (presumably heated - my Octavia was)
Air conditioning (no distinction between climate or simple on/off aircon)
Sunroof - OPTIONAL
SatNav - OPTIONAL
Cruise Contol - OPTIONAL £185
Radio cassette and CD - both ticked, so presumably CD is standard
Leather is OPTIONAL, but no price given. On other Passats, it's £1,700.
Alloy wheels standard
So this car appears to have benefited from the optional cruise control and leather. No mention of heated seats or roof rails. That particular model was allegedly tested in TG mag issue 95, but that would have 16 issue previous in August 2000, so the car tested would be 2000 spec, and a V or W reg. But were PD's about then?

Thanks Mare, Appreciated. Did it mention alloy size 2001 was 15 but I recall it being increased for the sport and later for others. Regards Peter

Most VW's with leather also have heated seats as standard. Look for a rotary knob near the heater controls.

Sorry, no mention of size. What i found lacking was that it didn't mention whether it was 5 speed or 6 speed.

You may find someone selling old brochures for this model on ebay. Should have the full spec in it somewhere.

When I was seeking insurance quotes this week, the insuers all semed to be to be able cite chapter-and-verse about my new car's spec, when they were checking for modifications. They knew far moe avout it than I did, so I presume they had some data flash up on-screen when they entered the reg number.
Name-change time: NoWheels + Almera = NowWheels

A good idea but bear in mind these can be off a little. Our insurance company seemed to think Mum's car was a 3 door Ghia or something odd when it's only a 5 door Freestyle.
|
I can confirm that the insurance data base is not infallible.
It denies that the recent Mazda 323F ever existed. Despite the badge on every single one.

I wasna fu but just had plenty.

I didnt realise there was so much spec. info on the Parkers website. Just looked at my car and it says cruise control was a £515 option. I retrofitted mine; bought the cruise module for £60 new and fitted it myself in 5 minutes!
(Soz for going off topic!)
