"Drivers in the southwest worry most about their car's feelings, with 36 percent admitting concern compared with just 15 percent in the Midlands."

That's worrying, that is. Do you think this a consequence of excessive scrumpy consumption?

I never praise my car for doing what I make it do, except to third parties. It is only doing its duty and one doesn't want it to get complacent.

However I do apologise to it when I make a bad gearchange or something of the sort. Don't want it feeling resentful.

Real Skodas (non-VAG) have a wicked Czech sense of humour. You don't have to laugh every time because they quite enjoy it when you feel slight distress. They are not cruel or sadistic, however.

Embalming fluid? I may be no spring chicken but I'm not dead yet.

I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys driving. Roads on the continent are (in general) so much less crowded than here, and if you know where to look there are a huge number of cheap hotels. We got a booklet from Accor hotels which lists all of their branches, and they have them in almost every major town.
