Well! I've gone and done it!
Just placed my order for a new Audi RS4
4.2 V8
Quattro
Manual
Optional Satnav plus +TV, Black optic pack, Silk Nappa seats, Armrest.
Now all I gotta do is sell the soot-chucker and find about £35k to bridge the gap! (ouch!!) :-O

Congrats, very nice car. I am most envious, which probably accounts for the next comment.
Shame they couldn't have left the grille alone mind.
Sorry.

Don't apologise - I'm with you all the way! It's the only thing I don't like about new Audi's, but I've learned to live with it ;-)

I'm sensing that Moneymart doesn't want to be reminded of any exorbitant costs he may have incurred ;)
Good on him I say, you only live once, and there's no pockets in shrouds, etc. etc.

'may have' incurred? Has, surely, and will more, the fortunate so and so.

To be honest when you are splashing out 50 odd grand on a car, then 2 grand for a sat nav is small change.
But by the cringe 700 quid for a 6 inch tele is WAY over the top, (speciaqlly as its just a tuner module for the sat nav)
I would have a 27inch Nicam stereo with 5.1 surround sound with Sky sports fitted in the passenger seat for that price!

good for you.
only hope for your sake that politics of envy won't show its ugly face and force you to withdraw from the forum. (there used to be another proud money-market man on here with a bmw-x5 who beat a retreat ).

Tell us more Dalglish. One wouldn't expect a high-earning money trader or whatever to be a thin-skinned type. Perhaps he didn't understand the jokes?

Fireball XL5. It wasn't so much the car, it was his attitude.
Nice car MoneyMart, my old boss has one, after a A6 4.2 quattro. Apparently size does matter, the S4 is quicker!

May I enquire if the Telegraph advert was an influencing factor in your decision?

How much for the A4 2.5 V6TDi Quattro? is it an estate?

Given the choice of bikes Sir in your profile I wish to guess your age. 43.5! and if you are older I respectfully suggest you forgot the Z1......just a bit of fun.

43.5? Chance would be a fine thing! Z900 in preference to a Z1 as it may have been slighty tamer, but it handled better (all things being relative, on both counts...!)
Apologies for continuing off thread...

i doubt youl regret it. Sadly my car mielage is to small to warant anything more fun than my curent mondeo as most time is spent in the vans.

"I currently have a 2.5 Tdi Audi A4. My mate has a 2.0 TDi with a performance ECU, and the performance is practically identical to mine.... but he gets about 10mpg more than I do! :-(
My next Audi will be a 2.0TDi with the afore-mentioned ECU!"
Is this ths same MoneyMart from only last Thursday?!
Mart has more money than he thought....But good luck with it anyway and have fun.

Tell me about it! Blame the local dealer that have a demo RS4 in the showroom....! Went in there last Thursday afternoon to get a new headlight fitted to the soot-chucker and thought ooooh! that looks nice I think I'll take a look at it while I wait.
Then the cogs start turning over the weekend, out comes the calculator, discussion with her indoors who has decided she's no longer wants to change her car and a fewphone calls later I'm signing away nearly as much money as my first house cost me!!!
That said, the total cost of ownership doesn't add up to that much more than a decent 5-series (which is actually what I'd planned on getting next - The 2.0TDi comment was purely hypothetical to compare the Audi 4 and 6 cyl diesels). When you consider the exclusivity of the RS4, plus the fact that I spend most of my time working from my home office now so mileage won't be anywhere near as high as it has been previously the residuals in say 3 to 5 years time will (I hope) be fairly high.
So given the choice of a 535d or an RS4 for similar TCO, it's not a hard choice to make!

Anyone remember that 'Whose backroom car would you want' thread? At the time the winner was Patently's 911. I think we may have new candidate!

Yes, and in today's Autocar an RS4 gives the Cayman and M3 a good run for their money. Even Steve Sutcliffe, not a fan of Audis' driveability in the past, thinks that this one is in a different league.
